Autumn and winter are ridiculously busy for chimney sweeps, and this year even more so!
It’s not uncommon for people who ring ProSweep to make a chimney sweep booking are surprised or even disappointed when we tell them that they’ll have to wait a up to a month or so, for an appointment.
While most expect to wait, there are quiet a few that say ‘ I wanted it done sooner, I’ll ring someone else.’
Think about that for a moment – what people are actually saying is that they want someone who clearly isn’t as in-demand as the sweep they’ve just contacted!
Why? After all, the fact the sweep they have just contacted is in-demand will tell you several things:
1 They’re experienced & well established, so have repeat customers who clearly value their service
2 They are good at what they do, hence the waiting list
3 They charge a fair price for what they do
4 The sweep is professional and wants to provide a good service, and aren’t prepared to treat it as a ‘rushed job’ or ‘squeeze it in’ to take the extra money.
Now, you could be fortunate and find a good, reliable and professional sweep who has a small gap or a cancellation slot available. But at this time of year, it’s rare. This is the reason I gently remind my customers about the very real benefits of getting your chimney or flue swept once you’ve stopped using it, in the spring/summertime.
